1. About the Service
FjordSpot is a fishing and habitat analysis app that uses public data and AI models to provide analyses and indications of possible fishing areas along the Norwegian coast. The service is operated by Cato Tangen (private individual).
2. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using FjordSpot, you accept these terms and our privacy policy.
3. User Account
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
- You must provide a valid email address.
- We may suspend accounts that violate the terms.
4. Service Limitations
- HSI analyses are estimates, not guarantees. Fishing success depends on many factors.
- Depth data and map data come from Kartverket/GeoNorge and may contain inaccuracies.
- Weather data consists of forecasts from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute and may differ from actual conditions.
- FjordSpot does not replace local knowledge, nautical charts, or safety assessments.
5. Limitation of Liability
FjordSpot is provided «as is» without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for:
- Direct or indirect losses resulting from use of the analyses or decisions made based on information in the app.
- Downtime, interruptions, or data loss (we perform daily backups but do not guarantee 100% uptime).
- Inaccuracies or errors in third-party data (maps, weather, depth, seabed conditions).
- Safety assessments or actions taken based on the app.
You are always responsible for your own safety at sea. Follow applicable laws and regulations.
6. Content You Share
- Catch data and photos you share in the Community feature are visible to other users.
- You are responsible for the content you publish.
- You must not publish content you do not have the rights to, or other people's personal data without their consent.
- You retain the rights to content you upload.
- You grant FjordSpot a non-exclusive right to display the content in the app.
- Illegal, offensive, or misleading content may be removed without notice.
7. Fishing Regulations
Information about fishing regulations in the app is for guidance only and may be incomplete or outdated. You are responsible for following applicable laws, minimum sizes, closed seasons, and local regulations. Always check the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries for updated rules.
8. Misuse
You must not:
- Attempt to hack, overload, or disrupt the service.
- Automate access (scraping, bots) without permission.
- Use the service for anything illegal.
9. Changes and Termination
- We may change the terms with 30 days' notice.
- You may delete your account at any time.
- We may discontinue the service with 60 days' notice.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Any disputes shall, as far as possible, be resolved amicably. If this is not possible, Bergen District Court shall be the legal venue, unless otherwise required by mandatory legislation.
